We've always had some issue with Lenovo hinges on CBs. There's only so much force those can take over time and too many students carry devices open by the screen. Eventually the sets break or the hinge is bent out. I order SuperGlue by the case and we do repair; but as you said the only true fix is a hinge and backplate replacement.
