I never crafted in BG3 and I don't think there will be the need to. There is ton of useless stuff lying around but it's normal in a dnd game. First, you pick a normal weapon. Then you pick a normal weapon with magic. And then you pick a +1 weapon. etc It's made for selling, not for looting. You actually loot the boss or special enemies.
