Bannerlord best army composition.
It's either max khans guard, or combo of fians and legionary for me. The khans are best at open field, but a well placed slope defense with the foot army can just wipe the floor with anyone. It's more finicky, but it's also better for sieges as khans guards don't carry shields.
For your backline, I highly suggest Harpies (You should be able to recruit them real fast in the game as the province island below yours allows Harpies.) If you can't get harpies, than normal bowmen, slingers, and javelin are okay. If you want a full army of 20, I also suggest some cavalry/chariots, other mythical units. The best army for storming castles and towns that I've ever used is Sturgian axemen. They've got the largest shields of any heavy infantry, some of the strongest armor, and are brutal in close combat - plus they always seem to hit more often with their javelins than legionaries do.
Army composition percentages??? So I'm playing Batania, Seonon is beeing sieged by Vlandia with a 700 men army. I was nearby with a 590 force with ~250 inf ~200 archers and the rest cav. I go for the fight (500 men limit on options) and I get 5 archers??? 15 cav and 220 inf while the enemy wich had similar percentages of troop (maybe more …Vlandia: Swordsman line is great because your T1-3 infantry can turn into vanguard, Crossbows are good, but you need critical mass. Sturgia: The Veteran Spearman line is pretty good, avoid their archers, Brigand line is good for the same reasons as Vlandia, but woodsmen are awful. Battania: Skirmisher or Oathsworn lines are good.

If you aren't above exploiting the game, then archers are even more powerful because you can kill a bunch of enemies at range, but before they even get to your archer retreat from battle and do it again.
