Kaplan 300 page doc.

Do y'all think that studying the Khan Academy 300 page P/S document will be enough to get a good score for the P/S section? Maybe like a 128+. I got a 132 by only doing the 86pg doc and a condensed ~50ish page doc + Uworld (did all the psych questions within a week or three of the exam) plus hardcore heavy crammed anki just for that section ...

I find that actually watching the khan academy videos and using the 300 page as a guide helps me more than just reading the doc. I've been using MileDown to study but the behavioral cards don't show up in the correct order so it's hard to match the cards with what I watched on KA (unless there is a way to do that but I'm not too savvy with the settings on anki) Any advice would be appreciated.

Posted by u/Joe_Johns - 1 vote and 2 commentsThe 300 pg doc is used to establish a comprehensive knowledge base. Doing UWorld problems is a more valuable use of your time if you've already reviewed a decent amount of p/s. Just read the 86 pg doc. You can go through it in a day (provided its not your primary studying material and it's just review).I used Anki, Kaplan, and UWirld since the 300pg document formatting just killed me. I really like the AnKing MCAT deck which you are using since the PS is more comprehensive and cross-referenced Kaplan for context when needed (maybe did this 3 or 4 times when going through the deck) then learned the application on UWirld.MCATBros was first founded as a community on a mission to help premedical students that leveraged the expertise and knowledge of a recent MCAT test taker and medical student …So I went ham on the 300-page doc and premed95's anki deck and raised my P/S score like 4 points in the last few weeks! Hello Everyone,

AAMC exams will be the best gauge, but Kaplan is very very good, and comes pretty close to the actual thing. I remember reading somewhere that a majority of students score 3-5 points better on the actual MCAT compared to the Kaplan exams. I scored 5 points higher on the actual MCAT than my highest Kaplan full-length. 0.

Nothing guarantees anything on the MCAT. Nobody can bank on a 132. A lot of the section is passage and data based. I think if strong knowledge of the 300 page doc "guarantees" a score, it would be around 127, not 132. 130+ is a hard earned score in any section. There is a reason 130 is 95th percentile or higher depending on the section.

Good on you. I'm trying to flashcard about 30 pages a day and it is literally sucking the soul out of my life. Word of advice: do NOT use the Kaplan books. They will teach you unhelpful information compared to AAMC/KA content. I feel like I have to relearn material as I go through the KA doc. The 300 pg doc or even the 100 pg doc was significantly more concise and provided better explanations. If there were parts I was unfamiliar with, I just watched the corresponding Khan Academy video.Goodluck!! For "CARS 2.0 type" tests (the way AAMC FL4 P/S is written) you're right: the 300 pg doc is definitely overkill. But on other 'types' of P/S tests (e.g. FL1-3), the obscure terms might help you grab free points here and there.
