Mathews phase 4 vs hoyt vtm.
Shot the VTM and was good, but not as smooth and quiet as the Mathews. To be fair the pull weight was 70 on the vtm and longer draw vs phase 4 at 65 lbs, but still. The draw cycle of the phase 4 was awesome, smooth and pulled easy for the weight. Went there to look at vx33 on sale but jst rolled with the phase 4, never shot the vx33, lol.

My second bow I have ever bought. I was torn between the Hoyt VTM and the Phase 4. I shot the Hoyt and it felt really nice, balanced, quiet. My most recent bow was a Hoyt Defiant 34 which I loved but I'm ready for an upgrade and am torn between these two great bows. I shot both and love the Hoyt's look and feel. I also like how quiet and dead the Phase 4 is as well as the bridge lock tech. Anyone with experience in either bow, hit me with your honest feedback/ recommendations.
Mathews was SIGNIFICANTLY quieter than the Hoyt. I would guess it was 25-30% quieter, which is massive. Back Wall. The Mathews has an amazing back wall. There is hardly any creep and it’s very solid. It would be cheaper to add limb dampeners between the limbs or buy an adjustable stab, like the crossover stabs on my V3X. If you don’t have a Phase 4, it is one of the top 2 bows Ive shot this year. The Hoyt VTM 31 and Phase 4 29 are still the top of the class in my opinion.Honestly gotta shoot them both one will just feel better to you. If you can’t shoot both based on the specs the Mathews is a shorter ata at 34ish and the Hoyt is 36ish. The Hoyt in theory should be more forgiving because it is longer. The Mathews will be lighter and slightly faster shooting. The cam feel you have to pull to feel it.

I swore my next bow would be a Mathews after buying my son a Phase 4 this summer, it is such a smooth shooter. Well, that changed when I picked up an end of year VTM 34 for a great price. Hoyts have been a love hate for me. Love my ProForce but seem to fight my helix here and there. I'm looking to go down to a 50# bow (old man with old shoulders, lol) and have not liked the recent offerings from Mathews at all. They are almost the same bow IMO. The VTM 34 has a true center shot at around 3/4”, in other words the arrow is coming straight out of the bow at that distance. The V Pro 33 was closer to 5/8”. So I much prefer the VTM from that aspect. The VTM also has the hole in the riser for the drop away rest which is nice.
