No sense in going 11.5 in MLC upper. I skidded 11.5 with LMT. 12.5" is a midlength gas system and obviously 1" longer barrel length than the 11.5" which is a carbine length gas system. All you need to be sure of is: will your gas block clear the tight ID of the Specwar upper. My understanding is that most low-profile gas blocks will be fine. The decision to convert or not is yours. But if it were me, I would save the BRT barrel for another build and buy an LMT barrel for your Specwar. I have a Criterion 12.5 and the LMT Specwar.
