Yes the XR2 would rev between 5500 to 6000 compared to 5000-5500 of the standard blackmax. It is slightly ported, 200hp exhaust and jetted carbs. I think the difference between them is XR2 is 2.0l, XR4 is 2.4l. XR6 is 2.5l. They are all strong 150's. XR2 and XR4 came with 4 1/4 in lowers. XR6 came with either 4 1/4 or 4 3/4 in lower. The one that connects to the tan wire at a terminal block high and aft on the starboard side of the engine is the OT sensor.

Slips 18% and doesnt handle corners worth a damn unless I drop it 5 inches under the pad.

I have a 1985 150hp Mercury XR2 black max with no spark to any cylinder I have disconnected ALL of the shut of wires (black & yellow (If I remember the colors correctly. I can crank using key or jumping straight to starter relay coil, electric choke works fine, disconnected the rectifier wires and checked it, the tilt and trim are ok.
