The shifter has solenoids to lock things down and unlock them, and it has an encoder to report what gear you're in. So instead of paying someone else I successfully swapped the engine with a lower mileage engine and wanted to pass along what I learned for those in the same situation.Had to take the cover piece off, then a second piece behind the grille to get to it, then there are 3 bolts holding the emblem in. Was able to do it with with the grille still on.
