The intent is to make you fuse often to keep up, and since your Izanagi is 20 levels lower than the closest boss you might as well ditch him.

Other than using a guide to try and max out social skills, which hasn't totally worked as some relationships seem to be behind what the guide says, I haven't used any guidance at all.
Use Vorpal Blade (or replace with Primal Force) + Power Charge (and try to get Arms Master onto him). I feel physical might be my best bet.
