Putting down a building part on the edge of your current limits extends the radius by another 50u. You can keep doing this until you max at 1000u radius from your original computer placement. I'm looking for an answer as well, one site mentioned you'll replace your settlement if you claim a second one, so you can only have one at a time. I haven't tried it yet though.
