Idk about crashing but iirc ambient occlusion was the main thing that was an issue with 1080p. I've been using 1080p mod with no issues, maybe make sure the 1080p mod is for the correct version of your game, I think chucks original 1080p mod is only good for 1.1.0, there's another one for 1.1.1 and 1.1.2. idk who but it's in the TOTK mod manager
