The intent is that when you click the button, you see the monitor behind the button show a door opening up but the hint is so vague that it's almost useless. As others have already said, it opens the Stump Lab which is in the far NE part of the (upper) yard. It will be fairly obvious when you get in the general area because the stump is large.
