The Prodigy is a good thing in that it puts needed pressure on the market. Staccato Ps don't need to cost $2.5k, but it's foolish to expect a pistol thats $1k cheaper to be "just as good". No free lunch and Staccato is still the baseline for a double stack that honest to goodness works from the start.Feb 3, 2024 · Springfield Prodigy has a 4.25-inch barrel, while Staccato XC has a 5.0-inch barrel. If you take apart Staccato and Springfield mags you'll find the latter is sprung quite a bit more. Imo the Staccato mags are under-sprung, especially in the 20 rounders. Since my post earlier last year, sold my Prodigy to a good buddy (i.e., he sells it.. I get first dibs back…lol). My P is so flawless and such a great shooter, I saw no reason to have both. I shoot my pistols and don’t like safe queens, so it was an easy choice. ZERO, absolute zero regrets buying a Prodigy. Learned the 2011 platform on it.
