But if you're a spiritualist empire, you can pray the portal away and get early access to Psionic Theory, which is nice. Or if you're a feudal society, you can fill the portal with rocks until something on the other side forces it ...Not destroying the ship increases the chance of the Unbidden showing up and makes it earlier. Or it used to. Not sure if they changed it. If you're not a ME or Hivemind accepting the ship will create a new faction of xenophiles I think. So if you're playing different ethics you should destroy it.Also, fun fact: the "Dimensional Portal Researcher" jobs it creates are the same ones made by the "Dimensional Doorway" colony event.
