The organization offers a ton of opportunities including professional development, scholarships, internships, and community service, as well as the honor that comes with being a member. Also, based on the logic given by you for signing up, it would be more concerning if this society promised $50,000 to anyone who paid the $95.00 fee, rather than having a vetting process (like all legitimate scholarships do) to give out awards. If that was the case, this definitely would have screamed "scam". 2.Man, I remember being pretty proud and excited when I got that same invite, but more than ten years later and the only thing I can recall when thinking of NSCS is the $75 it cost to join. Ouch.
