Just press and hold it for 3 seconds and it turns off. If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else. Pushing on it does nothing. The dash didn't say "RAB disabled", nor did the "RAB off" light appear on the dashboard. Eyesight can be fussy about lighting, dust, condensation etc but it should be occasionally off, not frequently. Your dealer should do a full recalibration as a minimum. This leads me to believe Subaru has the ability to fix the Ascent's RAB safety problem via a software update.

If the system was triggered normally (brakes kicked in) then when you put it in drive, the system should reset. If is disabled in drive, it means the RAB has malfunctioned.
