In rivers fish only have a few seconds to decide to hit something. In these mountain lakes with 4-6ft of visibility the fish sometimes slowly circle my fly for 30 seconds before they decide to take it. Actually you (and others) may facilitate a bit of a change in fly-fishing, with your complaint. The same complaint that many of us Boomers have - diminishing eyesight.
